In case you’ve been sleeping under a rock somewhere or have been incommunicado for a while, you might have missed that 90s pop band Steps are back. After a successful Ultimate tour, they’re now ready to release their first album in 11 years, with lead single and album title, Light Up The World.
Sadly, it’s only flickers. The song maintains a very similar sound to what you might have expected from their previous albums and feels more album material rather than a single. It feels like they’ve just stuck with the same formula that seemed to work previously and hoping for the best. It’s a Tragedy that from it coming from a supposed Winter album, it doesn’t feel it and you’d probably be expecting a little ballad.
It’s Heartbeat’s faint, it’s not very Here and Now and we’re feeling more One For Sorrow than Love’s Gotta Hold Of My Heart. We’ve hoping the album might bring us hope but we’re not going to hold our breathe.
