Oh how long it’s been since we’ve heard from Shakira but 2014 see the singer make a return to the music scene with her first single from her new album out in March.

The first release from the Columbian singer is a duet with Bajan singer Rihanna. There’s a very familiar Shakira feeling to the track with a sound that wee have heard in past releases. The verses have a bit of a ska feel about them whilst the chorus has more of a rock feel to it…actually, now that we think about it, it sounds a bit like Lawson’s Juliet but with female vocals.

It’s a nice little number to return on. Maybe not heat the charts up but will probably heat up a few fans

Rihanna // Diamonds

There are times where Rihanna can bring a great track and then there are other that you can't help think 'why release that?' Diamonds is one of those tracks.

The track itself feels as if it maybe started as a interlude and then some bright spark thought, 'let's add some lyrics' that sadly does nothing for the track. It becomes annoying fast and quite possibly the way she singing diamonds is to blame for it.

Pass it by if you can or make up your own lyrics.

The latest single to be taken from the album Talk That Talk is the track, Where Have You Been

The track was co-produced by Scottish producer Calvin Harris, and the pair have already had an outing for her previous hit, We Found Love. Filled the electronic synths and longing vocals, we can help feel that we’ve been here before with Rihanna….maybe on a track called Don’t Stop Music. Anyway, maybe this familiarity with help it with listeners although many will still recognise the familiar vocal sounds.  It’s a track that even without remixes is likely to get people in the clubs up, dancing and probably singing along with the chorus
