If you were here on Monday this week, you’ll have seen us mentioning this singer/songwriter as he supported Sandi Thom on her recent UK tour. To us he sounds a bit like Paolo Nutini & Jason Mraz. Have a look at the videos below and have a listen for yourselves

New Music Friday: Foxes
We’ve only just came across this artist and we admit that it’s once again through the power of television advertising. Foxes’ song Youth is featured on the latest advert for department store Debenhams whilst at the same time, featuring on the latest track by Rudimental Right Here, Right Now. Either way, check below to hear the track Youth and check out the rest of the links to hear and find out more.

Well, it’s not exactly new music but it’s been a while since we’ve heard from the music duo of Milla Sunde & Marlow Bevan aka The Green Children. Their new album, Connection drops at the end of the month, but this week they revealed a brand new track called Norwegian Dream which samples a well known song and features Milla singing in her native Norwegian. Check it out below!

New Music Friday: Peter Hollens
We thought we’d introduce you to Peter Hollens. We first came across him in with the “duet” with Lindsey Stirling on the Skyrim Theme. What we love about him is that all his music is done just using his voice! His latest offering comes in the form of a cover of Josh Groban’s Brave. Check it out below:

New Music Friday // The Vibrant Sound
We mentioned this ‘outfit’ on Monday after seeing ‘him’ support Lindsey Stirling in Glasgow. But seeing as we’re don’t know how to really describe them, we’ll let them do it instead!
The Vibrant Sound is a movement of ingenuity. Combining eclectic styles from Los Angeles to New York, this trio has captured a sound that defies boundaries on all sides. Based on the song writing slash lyrical delivery of lead man McKay Stevens, the Vibrant Sound came together to create music for ghetto blasters to speak through and people to connect to.
Check out their latest single below:

New Music Friday Special // Manran Feat. Michelle McManus
Download @ Amazon.co.uk | Download @ iTunes
There’s a bit of a Scottish bias to this week’s NMF. Back at the start of 2011, we reviewed Manran debut single Latha Math (see the review here). since then, they’ve released an album but this single that features Michelle McManus (remember her?) and produced by the the legendary Phil Cunningham has been released for the STV Appeal 2012, aiming to raise as much money as possible to help the 200,000 kids that live in poverty in Scotland. At least 40p from the sale of the single will be going to the appeal. While we’ve only linked to Amazon and iTunes, the track is available from a variety of outlets. The full list is here. You can see the video (featuring scenes from the studio as well as other celebs who have taken part in events for the appeal) here

New Music Friday // Lucy Spraggan
Normally X factor auditions aren’t interesting but given that this year they’re pretty much allowing anything (people with previous recording contacts, amateurs, instruments alongside the usual), we got to see Lucy Spraggan perform her own track Last Night (put simply, it’s about waking up the next day thinking, what happened last night….or as she’s put it’s suffering Beer Fear)
According to Lucy, her self released album, Top Room At The Zoo, is due to be pulled so best if you like her, best get in quickly. Check out her track Last Night below.

New Music Friday // Jessie Ware
Let’s us introduce you to Jessie Ware. Hailing from London, she’s just released her debut album, Devotions. She seems to have this voice that has an ability to catch the listeners attention and holds it. The melody’s may just sound as if they are on repeat but it’s Ware’s voice that provides the emotion. It would be easy to say that you’d expect to hear on one of these '’chillout’ albums. Check out her track Running below

New Music Friday // Sinead & The Dawnbreakers
2012 will marks 10 years since Fame Academy burst onto our screens. With Lemar and Alistair Griffen already with new music out this year. Now it seems that Sinead Quinn is doing the same. Now with backing band known as The Dawnbreakers, she’s already produced an EP called Can’t Please ‘Em All, drawing on her love of the 50s and 60s and giving it a contemporary twist.
You can check out the EP below:

New Music Friday // Olympic Opening Ceremony
Fir the past week, the eyes of the world have been on London but probably none so as last Friday night with the opening ceremony of the 30th Olympiad of the modern Olympics in London. Everything was kept under lock and key so much so that videos that had leaked from the rehearsal were being asked to be reported so that they could be removed.
Probably the highlight of the night was the lighting of the Olympic cauldron from 204 copper petals. The song that accompanied that moment was called Caliban’s Dream by Underworld and featuring the Dockhead Choir, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Only Men Aloud, Elizabeth Roberts, Esme Smith and Alex Trimble. You can hear the full 7 minute song below and relive the magical moment. The question probably now is...can the closing ceremony equal or exceed it? And what's instore for the ParaOlympics?Caliban's Dream by Underworld

New Music Friday // Charlotte Church
Remember this angelic voice that turned Crazy Chick? Well, it would seem that Charlotte Church is about to unleash some new music back on the scene. The first track we’ve been given is The Rise that she says herself is a song that stretches her vocal range and isn’t really a single as such, but is more an introduction track. You can download the track from the website (which isn’t fully operational yet but it’s coming!)

New Music Friday: The Strike Nineteens
Let us introduce you to The Strike Nineteens, a band hailing from Dumbarton, Scotland. We first came across them as they supported Mike & The Mechanics in Glasgow at the O2 Academy on Wednesday. Though it was a bit more acousticy than what the normally play, we liked them enough to go and track them down online. One of our favourite tracks was Ashes Of The Fury that you can check out below:

New Music Friday: Karima Francis
Let us introduce you singer/songwriter Karima Francis. With a beautiful voice and heartfelt songs, she’s due to release her album, The Remedy in August this year. Recently came to our attention thanks to a support slot in Glasgow where she performed a few acoustic tracks and we were impressed with her performance so we’re hoping for great things with the album. We reckon that she might be one to watch.
Check out her track Wherever I Go below

New Music Friday // Laura Wright
You might not be familiar with the name, but if I said that this is a former All Angels member who spread her wings and went solo, would that mean anything? Glorious is actually her second solo album, released this week, and in keeping with what seems an all too familiar theme with a few artists this year, it’s in keeping with the Diamond Jubilee.
Check out the snippets below including another song written for the jubilee, Stronger As One.
