Katy Perry // Wide Awake
Download @ Amazon.co.uk | Download @ iTunes
Wide Awake comes from Perry’s re-released Teenage Dream album and it’s not hard to see where the lyrics have been inspired from.
The song was apparently written specifically for the upcoming Part of Me movie and is a mid-tempo track. It showcases Perry’s gentler side that we’ve seen in other songs and could possibly be the most personal to date. With Perry’s vocals taking the lead surrounded by the echoed lyrics I’m wide Awake, the rest of the instrumentation blends beautifully, not being too overpowering or distracting from the vocals.
Beautiful track though sitting on the fence whether it wake up the charts

Katy Perry // Part Of Me
Download @ Amazon.co.uk | Download @ iTunes
Miss Perry comes back to the charts with her new offering in the form of Part Of Me, currently getting heard thanks to her involvement in the Sims 3: Showcase game and the first new track from the soon be re-released Teenage Dreams album (under the name of Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection)
It seems to be becoming a trend this year for artists to release ‘empowering’ songs (we’re thinking Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger) and this is no different. With the chorus declaring This is the part of me that you’re never gonna ever take away from me, we think it’s going to be the Hot ‘n’ Cold of this album. Although for some reason, we think that we would prefer this as an acoustic version rather than a full production (we blame the ad which starts off with her playing a guitar)
Not sure whether this is going to follow her previous hits but it is one of these songs that’s bringing us into the summer/festival season and that you can probably see the remixes being played out to packed club floors.

Timbaland Feat. Katy Perry // If We Ever Meet Again
Download @ Amazon.co.uk | Download @ iTunes
There’s something about this track that just draws you in. If you’re not attempting to join in with the chorus by the end of the first one, then there’s something wrong. Like previous songs, it’s built on simple beats and melodies and easy lyrics. It’s one of those songs that if it came on at party or in a club people would be up dancing to it. It’s a fun little track and there’s no issue with the vocals. Both Katy’s and Timbaland’s work well in harmony for the chorus and overall.
Even if you aren’t a fan of either of these artists or maybe have only dabbled in a few of their works, this is a collaboration not to be missed. It is definitely a track that has slipped the radar and should be around for quite a while.
