It's that time of year again where John Lewis attempt to melt the hearts of the TV viewer with their Christmas ad and this time vocals fall on Gabrielle Aplin.
The song of choice is the Frankie Goes To Hollywood classic The Power Of Love. Sadly this time the song seems to fall short of the mark. Don't get us wrong, it's a good version but we struggle to see it's relation to the ad. It's a haunting performance of the track and at least she manages to keep us happy by making the song her own whilst being true to the original.
Sadly looking at the song and ad, we think that last year offering has set the mark that the rest of the John Lewis ads will be marked against.
