One Direction // Best Song Ever

Well with their movie due out next month, it’s only right that they should probably have a song out to help promote it along, and that’s what we have here in with Best Song Ever.

With an entrance that if it isn’t The Who’s Baba O’Riley we’d be surprised, but if this is supposed to be the Best Song Ever, we’re not quite sure where it’s supposed to be. The lyrics don’t seem to make any sense. Surely if it was the Best Song Ever you’d remember the lyrics to it…and you wouldn’t need to keep mentioning the title…

It’s not the Best Song Ever (so far the only track that we’ve thought is their Best Song Ever is Little Things) though fans may disagree.

Lucy Spraggan // Lighthouse

Lucy Spraggan Lighthouse

Lucy Spraggan became almost a household name last year when she appeared on The X Factor after wow the judges in the audition stages with her own songs. Now after a tour of the UK, she’s released her brand new single, Lighthouse.

Before anyone panics, it’s still Lucy. She’s kept to what she knows and has brought us a great little number that light & bouncy and no doubt will have the audience singing along with the chorus (we can imagine the audience being asked to sing it themselves to be honest). Notably on the digital downloads is a new version of her song Butterflies and an acoustic on ‘91 (both from her original album Top Room At The Zoo)

Good track that we hope does well

New Music Friday // The Green Children

large

Well, it’s not exactly new music but it’s been a while since we’ve heard from the music duo of Milla Sunde & Marlow Bevan aka The Green Children. Their new album, Connection drops at the end of the month, but this week they revealed a brand new track called Norwegian Dream which samples a well known song and features Milla singing in her native Norwegian. Check it out below!

Ellie Goulding // Burn

Ellie Goulding Burn

Let us be honest. There is something about Ellie Goulding that we would like to like but it seems we never manage to find what. And sadly again, with the latest offering from the soon to be re-packaged album Halcyon (renamed Halcyon Days)

It a way it reminds us of Anything Could Happen and in some instances there is this annoying feeling with the chorus that although catchy, we feel that it would soon touch on annoying if you were to hear it constantly. Yet interestingly, we’d love to hear an acoustic version on the track as we think it could work.

Not one for us sadly but may do well in the charts and with fans

Cascada // World Is In My Hands

cascada
Buy album @ Amazon.co.uk | Buy album @ Jpc.de

Having already been off at the Eurovision Contest this year representing Germany, there’s yet another greatest hits offering (we’ve given up counting how many there’s been!) and you’ll find this track on it too (although we hear it could be released as a single at the end of July)

This for us sounds too much like what we’ve already heard in the charts and feels like they are trying to ride the wave by making themselves sound similar (which is what many seemed to have thought with their Eurovision entry, Glorious). We loved their last studio album, Original Me, and wish they could re-capture that, but it seems that it’s just drifting away

Mutya Keisha Siobhan // Flatline

Mutya Keisha Siobhan
Pre-order @ iTunes

Do these three names look familiar to you? Probably yes. These three ladies are the original founding members of the group Sugababes and having left them at different points in time, they’ve now got back together as, yes, Mutya Keisha Siobhan or sometimes known as MKS. Their debut single (due in September) goes by the name Flatline

On opening you’d be forgiven for thinking that it was a bit of an 80’s track, but don’t let that fool you as it comes into a 80s for the current age twist to it. Their voices work brilliantly in harmonies and alone….it’s almost like they’ve never been away & yet…it’s 12 years since they originally started out.

It will be interesting to see how this fairs in the charts come September. But for us, this song definitely doesn’t flatline
