Remember Jahmene Douglas? He came 2nd  on the 2012 UK X-Factor and soon to be releasing his debut album Love Never Fails. But first we get to see & hear his first offering from the album in the form of Titanium.

Yes you might have guessed, it is a cover of that David Guetta song and to be honest, it’s a bit of a tale of two tracks.There are times we like this interpretation but at the same time, there are moments (particularly on the chorus) where we just feel that there is something missing from the performance. Add to this that we listen to this and think that there’s nothing that we haven’t heard before.

We are a bit disappointed in this offering, but then maybe we were putting our expectations too high. Maybe his debut LP will change our minds….

Sweetbox // #Z21

It’s been 2 years since there’s been a release from this group, but they’re back with a new line up in the form of Miho Fukuhara & LogiQ Pryce. However, as singles go, this will be the first single that’s been made available in the UK & Europe in nearly 10 years!

It maintains the familiar theme that Sweetbox has become synonymous for; sampling classical pieces and mixing them with modern elements. #Z21 is more a dance track and takes us back to the early beginnings of the group, but we feel that it’s a good introduction to a new line up. With the album of the same name due out in just under a month, we look forward to seeing what this new era of Sweetbox brings to the table.

Paul Gilbody // Ricochet

We’ve been patiently awaiting this little number from Paul since we heard it back in November last year as he supported mate Alex Cornish.

It’s a lovely little tune and perfect for just chilling in the (non-existent) sunshine and we suspect that he’s doing his one man band thing again on this track, which, to be honest, should make it more impressive.

Kelly Clarkson // People Like Us

The second single in support of the Clarkson’s greatest hits comes to us in the form of People Like Us.

To be honest, it sounds like a mini-mash of previous singles and while it shouldn’t work, it does yet, this isn’t a track that we can listen to and automatically think ‘oh we like this’. It’s one of these sitting on the fence track. There is something there but at the same time, there is something missing from it too but we can’t put our finger on what.

This is probably more likely to be a grower rather than a immediate favourite but should keep fans tied over while she works on the next album
